Whether it's Spring Break, summer, or an impromptu trip with your girls, there is one item of clothing no "fashionista" should ever do without; A cute maxi dress. You know it, ladies.

A maxi dress has limitless potential. You can wear that baby anywhere, for any occasion, well... almost. But, you know what I mean.

It's such a versatile piece of clothing that it deserves some respect. Cocktail parties, travel, garden parties, to work; with the right dress and accessories, you can wear it almost anywhere.

I was reading this article about maxi dresses and their history on HowStuffWorks (Go check it out) and it says, "In the 1940s, stylish socialites and the hottest Hollywood starlets wore brightly colored dresses with long, full-tiered skirts.

Designers drew inspiration for these so-called patios, or squaw, dresses from traditional Native American and Southwestern designs.

Though the patio dress soon fell out of fashion, this ankle-grazing dress style was revived during the 1960s when women from all walks of life embraced the colorful, free-flowing maxi dress." Interesting stuff. Go have a read.
