Hi there! Just so you know. This page contains links to product and services from one or more of our affiliates. Please note that we may receive compensation when you click on links to those products and services.

Blue skies, exotic drinks and turquoise water. Sounds like the perfect place to spend Christmas this year because not everyone wants a white Christmas.

There are a lot of families that prefer to spend the holidays basking in the warm weather of the Caribbean. Many love the traditions as much as they love the food and the Christmas drinks.

While there are many beautiful hotels in the Caribbean, Sandals and Beaches are leading the way in providing Christmas cheers with their 12 day Christmas giveaway.

If you book a Sandals vacation for six nights or longer during their 12 Days of Christmas sale you will receive a special gift. They are offering one special gift per day.

Some Traditional Caribbean Christmas Dishes

Christmas on the islands are really specials and some of the traditional drinks include Sorrel (Dark red drink made from the flowers of the Roselle plant - Hibiscus sabdariffa) and ginger beer, which are non-alcoholic. Of course there are a host of rum punch and rum drinks as well.

Traditional dishes include roast pork, roasted turkey, ham, peas and rice and Pepperpot in some of the islands including Antigua and Barbuda. A traditional Christmas desert is black cake, which is made with rum soaked fruits. Some people soak the cake with rum or brandy after baking and it has cooled off. Trust me, this is one potent cake.

If you plan to visit Sandals in Barbados, then three of the traditional Christmas dishes you have to try are Christmas Black Cake (Known as Great Cake in Barbados), traditional Barbados baked ham and the Scottish influenced Jug Jug, which is made with green peas, guinea corn flour, herbs and salted meat.

If you are planning to stay at Sandals Resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, make sure and get some of these traditional Christmas fare. Jamaican Christmas favorites include Christmas ham done the Jamaican way, Gungo peas aka Pigeon peas and rice, Jamaican Christmas cake, curried goat and Sorrel drink.
